What to eat after a crossing

Coming off the park, the boat or the ride with accumulated hunger is not the same as having an appetite.

By Redacción THE WHOLE Published: Updated: Next review:

After three, five or eight days of sustained effort in the cold, the body asks for volume and judgement switches off. It is the moment in the trip when the worst food decisions get made: too much, too fast, and whatever is nearest the bus terminal.

An order that works

  • Liquid and salt first, before heavy protein. A mussel or clam broth does more than a 400-gram cut.
  • Then protein with fat, which is what the cold consumed. Lamb makes sense here.
  • Acidity last: calafate, rhubarb or wild apple, depending on the season, cut through the saturation.
  • Alcohol at the end and with water in between, not as a starter.
